New Goal: New Car

To start this I’m going to let you know that I am not endorsed, sponsored, or receiving any type of benefit for this post.

I have been looking at electric vehicles for some time now and have been wanting something with a 500-mile and above range. The problem with this is that most in production or going to production cost well over $75k and some over $100k. As a teacher and struggling author, these prices are a bit too much for me.

However, this did not stop my search for a vehicle. What I found was something that I wasn’t expecting. The Aptera checks off almost all the boxes that I want. It has the ability to go 1,000 with the highest battery pack and with the solar package maxed out I can get 40 miles of recharge a day. For these add ons it will cost close to $50k.

I’ve done the math and the Aptera will save me between $1,500 and $1,800 each year on gas. I do currently drive a hybrid so I get great mileage, but gas prices are still not fun to pay. I can also save about $600 a year from routine maintenance.

The drawbacks come with me wanting the height and room of an SUV or truck. Aptera has mentioned that people who are 6’3″ have test drove it with plenty of space so I don’t worry about that. What is a concern is the cargo room. I don’t know how great this will be for travel gear but time will tell. The main point to this is going to be for daily commute. I want an economical vehicle and Aptera is just that.

From what I’ve gathered, preorders will be shipped starting at the end of this year in limited numbers. It seems that full-scale production will take place in 2023 but Aptera currently has over 25,000 pre-orders. I’m not certain how long it will take to complete these orders but I’m looking to place an order in 2024 depending on how life goes. If you’re looking for an electric vehicle then I would suggest checking out Aptera.

Don’t take what I say as gospel. I’ve researched this car a lot. I’ve read articles and watched hours and hours worth of videos so I would suggest you do the same to make sure it is the right choice for you.
