Thoughts On Bad Ratings/Reviews

A couple of weeks ago The Untold received a one-star rating but no review. I’ve seen a lot of author videos and read a lot of posts on bad reviews and ratings. Many get upset and I completely understand. It’s difficult to put yourself out there after you have poured yourself into a work and even more difficult to read a bad review.

I completely understand those feelings and I’m not trying to diminish or make light of them. I am just going to my thoughts and how I am choosing to handle a bad review or rating. The Untold’s one-star did not come with an explanation of what was bad or what could be better, which makes it tough me for as a writer.

I read every review with the goal of trying to make myself better as a writer. I want to see what needs improvement, what readers liked, what they want to see more or less of, and the list goes on. With this rating, I don’t get the chance and that’s okay because I am going to work to make my next Untold book better.

How will I make it better? I’m not sure how to answer that question yet but you can guarantee that I’m going to work at making it better. Though I know it will be difficult to please every reader, I’m still going to do the best I can to give every reader a positive experience. I
