Them Guys
Them Guys formed in 2019 as a Chevelle tribute project, but if “Stay With Me” showed me anything, it’s that this band was destined to step beyond covers and create original music of their own.
From start to finish, “Stay With Me” kept me hooked. The pacing of the instruments gives the song a driving energy, while the shift from clean vocals to a slightly harsher delivery adds another layer to the track. It’s a great balance that keeps the song moving and makes you want to hear what Them Guys will do next.
The other great news, besides one heck of a new single, is that Them Guys already have four albums available. If Stay With Me is your first introduction to Them Guys, like it was for me, there’s plenty of music waiting to be discovered.

Buried In Lies
Formed in Colorado in 2022, Buried In Lies are quickly proving they belong on stage alongside bands like Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed, and Motionless in White.
Of course, those are just a few comparisons. Buried In Lies bring their own sound, energy, and intensity to the mix. However, fans of heavy riffs, powerful vocals, and high-energy performances should feel right at home.
But wait! There’s more! On August 21, the band released a powerful cover of Lady Gaga’s “Disease.” It doesn’t disappoint. More importantly, Buried in Lies takes the song and truly makes it their own.
Tyler and Chrystian’s vocals work incredibly well together. Their combination of harsh and clean vocals creates the perfect balance throughout the track. The musicianship is just as impressive. Andrew delivers a masterful performance on drums, while Xavier and Dan bring the song to life on guitar. Together, the band transforms “Disease” into something heavier, aggressive, and unmistakably Buried in Lies.

Under Society
Colorado is showing no mercy when it comes to delivering glorious tunes for your earhole, and Under Society is another band proving just how strong the state’s metal scene has become. Formed in 2020, Under Society continues to build a powerful sound and show why they deserve to be front and center in the metalcore scene.
My first introduction to Under Society came with their song One Life, One Take (check out the music video to the right), and they had me hooked from the very first listen. The instruments hit with a powerful, aggressive energy, while Ben’s vocals perfectly matched the intensity of the music. From clean vocals to powerful screams, Ben can do it all and everything in between.
Not only should you check out One Life, One Take, but we’re also just a few days away from Under Society’s newest single, Savior//Self.

Silver Dose
To kick off this band highlight, I have to start with an apology to Silver Dose for not reacting to Serotonin Fix. Sometimes I get a little too excited, jump straight into the latest release, and completely ruin my own plans for a reaction. This was definitely one of those times.
That doesn’t mean Serotonin Fix deserves any less attention. It was another brilliant track and a great follow-up to Joyride. Silver Dose has mastered an incredible hard rock sound that hits with power, energy, and attitude.
I’ve compared Silver Dose to bands like Collective Soul, not because they sound the same, but because they share something that’s becoming increasingly hard to find: a timeless hard rock sound that never seems to grow old. Collective Soul is a band I’ve listened to for decades without ever getting tired of their music, and Silver Dose gives me that same feeling.
Silver Dose has captured that perfect blend of melody, power, and hard rock energy while still creating a sound that feels entirely their own. This isn’t music that feels tied to a particular moment or trend. I truly believe Silver Dose is the kind of band you could come back to 30 years from now, crank up the volume, and enjoy just as much as you did the first time you heard them.
Raresleep
Raresleep is another incredible metalcore band from Colorado, bringing a relentless combination of heaviness, energy, and aggression to their music. The newest single from Raresleep, All Bark No Bite, hits hard from the opening moments and never lets up. Every riff, breakdown, and roar adds to the song’s impact, creating the kind of hard-hitting metalcore experience that demands to be played loud.
If you’re a fan of metalcore with plenty of aggression and energy, Raresleep is a band that deserves a spot on your playlist. Check out All Bark, No Bite in the video above or their song Liar to the right.

Penbrook’s Own
Previously, when I’ve mentioned Daniel, the focus has been on his writing. While his work is absolutely worth checking out, today we’re turning our attention to another side of his creativity: his YouTube ventures.
Daniel began his YouTube journey with Penbrook’s Own, a channel that showcases a wide variety of content. Rather than sticking to just one type of video, Daniel has built a space where he explores different topics, shares his personality, and connects with viewers through a diverse range of videos.
Daniel expanded his YouTube presence with a second channel, Penbrook Games, but I don’t think he gives himself nearly enough credit for the gameplay. He and his team have won more matches than I could ever hope to, and if you’ve seen my gaming skills, you know that’s not an exaggeration.
Besides the gameplay, Daniel also draws me in with his movie discussions and reviews. They add something unique to the channel and can happen during a gaming session or in videos of their own. Daniel doesn’t just review movies, either. He often breaks down the stories and shares how he would approach writing the next installment in a franchise. These conversations are thoughtful, entertaining, and easily some of my favorite content on the channel.
Beyond gameplay is a series called Beyond Fiction, which takes Daniel’s content in a much more serious and thought-provoking direction. The series explores disturbing and difficult stories, but it never feels as though the atrocities themselves are the focus. Instead, the attention remains where it belongs: on the victims, their lives, and their stories.
Beyond Fiction serves as a reminder that behind every tragedy are real people who deserve to be remembered. By telling their stories with respect and care, the series helps preserve their memory. Daniel ensures they are not simply reduced to another name, number, or forgotten moment in history.
