Harnessing New Platforms & Celebrating Authors and Creativity

Over the years, social media and I haven’t exactly been best friends. I’ve started a few accounts, only to find the experience frustrating and unfulfilling. Throughout my journey as an author, I’ve tried to be transparent and honest—maybe too honest at times.

Maybe I should have played the game—posted only the highlights, faked a smile, and chased the latest trends. Maybe this new attempt will face the same challenges. But I’m here, giving it another shot.

This time, I’m doing things differently. I’m focusing on Polar Press Presents and sharing short, meaningful snippets from YouTube. If you’re on Instagram, I’d love for you to check out @PolarPressPresents.

It is with great pleasure that we feature LaShane Arnet—an exceptionally talented author and passionate advocate for indie and small press writers. Best known for the Sadie Reed series, LaShane is a true literary force, skillfully crafting stories across multiple genres with depth and creativity.

LaShane’s The Pain Eater is a phenomenal thriller that kept me hooked from start to finish. Her writing is absolutely masterful—fluid, vivid, and compelling—and the way she transitioned between Sadie’s visions was nothing short of flawless.

Among the many highlights, I must say that the characters truly stood out. Adrian, in particular, had me constantly questioning his choices. There’s one scene (no spoilers!) that had me muttering a few choice words at him—you’ll know exactly what I mean when you get there.

And then there’s that twist. Again, no spoilers, but when the bomb dropped, I went back and reread earlier chapters to see if I had missed any clues. This isn’t a critique; it’s a testament to how well the twist lands. LaShane paces the story perfectly and weaves in subtle foreshadowing with brilliant skill.

While Adrian is a complex and captivating character, it’s Sadie and her extraordinary abilities that will truly hook you. I can already tell this series is going to be addictive, and I can’t wait to dive into The Magic Man.

For most people, discovering who they truly are is a harrowing journey. For 21-year-old Sadie Reed, it’s a matter of life and death. On the night of her twenty-first birthday, Sadie is struck by a powerful, undeniable vision—one that reveals a shocking truth: she’s psychic. As she begins to explore her gift, she reconnects with her estranged father, only to find herself spiraling into an emotional labyrinth of secrets and trauma.

But things take a darker turn when Sadie has a chilling vision: a woman named Maxine Powell, missing and brutally murdered. The deeper Sadie dives, the clearer it becomes—there’s something monstrous out there, and it’s targeting gifted women like her. With only her fiercely loyal best friend Adrian—who she may be falling for—and a dying psychic named Angel by her side, Sadie sets out to uncover the truth and rescue Maxine. But each step forward pulls her closer to the edge, where power and peril blur.

To unlock the full force of her abilities, Sadie must face the unthinkable as the path to her destiny may demand the ultimate price.

Will it cost her life—or someone she loves?

Snoopy and Woodstock ~ trash or treasure?

Whether you’re a seasoned author or just beginning your writing journey, you’ve likely encountered the often-challenging process of editing. In this context, we’ll define editing broadly—as any part of the writing process, not just revising a completed draft.

It’s easy to get frustrated with a section that isn’t working and reach for the delete key. But before you do, consider this: highlight the section, cut it, and paste it into a separate document. You never know when that discarded piece might spark inspiration or find a perfect home elsewhere in your work.

That “home” for your discarded words might not be in your current project—it could belong to something you haven’t even imagined yet. There’s a reason that idea came to you, so don’t be too quick to toss it aside. Even a short, seemingly insignificant snippet can spark an entirely new story down the road. So take a cue from Woodstock: save what you would otherwise toss. What feels like literary scraps today might become hidden treasure tomorrow, ready to shine in the right place.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you check out The Pain Eater and connect with LaShane and Elana. If you’re an aspiring author, I hope Writing With Snoopy provided valuable insights.
